Town Back to Winning Ways

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 25/08/2013

GRIMSBY returned to winning ways with a relatively comfortable 3-1 win in an open game against Alfreton. Town took an early lead through Liam Hearn, Colbeck drilled a second past the 'keeper.

McLaughlin tapped in Colbeck's cross after the break before Fenton scrambled an equaliser in injury time for a consolation goal.

Alfreton had their chances in early play but once Town went 2-0 in front the result was not really in doubt.

Liam Hearn returned from illness to the attack and played on the left hand side of the front 3. Andi Thanoj played in midfield in place of Scott Kerr and Pearson came into the back four. Overall it was a better performance than against Welling and Town created quite a few more openings.

Alfreton play an open game and that obviously suits Town as they nearly always manage to score quite a few goals past the Reds.
