Grimsby v Luton Team News

GRIMSBY are in the unusual position tonight of being underdogs at home in a league game, probably for the first time this season. The reason is they are facing runaway leaders Luton who have all but booked their place in League 2 next season.

Town though rose to the challenge of playing supposedly superior opposition in the FA Cup this year, and there'll be a big crowd to cheer the Mariners on tonight against the biggest side in non-league football.

Right back Paul Bignot is ruled out with the ankle problem that he picked up in the win over Nuneaton, but in Sam Hatton Town have a ready-made replacement in that role.

Joe Colbeck is the only absentee so Paul Hurst will be able to pick a starting line-up from the remaining players in the squad.

It's likely that other than Hatton, Hurst will stick with the side which won at Nuneaton. Although Grimsby didn't play particularly well, they kept a clean sheet, and were defensively fairly solid in that game. Changes are most likely in the front two, with Hurst most likely to rotate in that area.

For Luton Luke Guttridge, Jonathan Smith and Danny Fitzimons are all injured, but the rest of the squad are fully fit.

Grimsby and Luton drew 0-0 in a fairly uninspiring match at Kenilworth Road back in September. Luton created the better of the chances but Town's defence stood solid that night. Grimsby won the equivalent game last season 4-1, and were out of sight at half time with a 3-0 lead.
