Question of the Week

Is football a business or a sport?

We are Town
We are Town

Point Blank

GRIMSBY got their first point of the season at Bolton in a 0-0 draw which, given the build-up to the game, was a creditable result. Town had slightly the better of what few chances there were and looked solid defensively with Bolton only really a threat from set pieces.

The Mariners squad had all spent most of the last two weeks isolated at home with the Grimsby squad unable to play the last three games or even train together.

New signing Owen Windsor started up front, with defensive trio Luke Hendrie, Mattie Pollock, Luke Waterfall all returning. Midfielder Danny Rose also came into the side.

Grimsby defended well in the first half when Bolton had most of the possession, but the Mariners featured more as an attacking force after the break, especially after the introduction of Edwards who set up a chance for midfielder Taylor. Edwards also fired over himself from a chance late in the game when perhaps passing would have been a better option.

With chances thin on the ground, Town obviously need to improve on their creativity, but with players returning and a more familiar defence Grimsby have something to build on in training.

They won't have much chance to train together though as their match with Cheltenham has been rearranged in double quick time and will take place on Tuesday in Gloucestershire.
