Taylor-Made Return

By: Richard Lord
Date: 06/08/2002

FORMER Wolves striker Robert Taylor is set to feature in the Reserve's pre-season friendly at Frickley this evening, reports the Official GTFC website, although whether Taylor will be made a permanent addition to the squad remains to be seen.

Taylor initially joined the Mariners in January 2002 on a month's loan from Wolves. However, his loan spell was cut short when he was injured in the 2-0 defeat at Watford and the player headed back to Molineux.

Deadline Day in March saw the return of Taylor after Wolves paid up the remainder of his contract. It was reported that he played on a non-contract basis for Grimsby, before being released at the end of the season.

During the summer Taylor has trained with a couple of clubs, although he has not had any confirmed offers. Town manager Paul Groves wants to see how things progress before making a decision over the player.

Groves has already stated his desire for a fast striker, but with time running out before the start of the new season, the gaffer will be more than happy to add Taylor's experience to the squad.
