John Oster Extends His Loan Period - Update!

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 22/11/2002

SUNDERLAND midfielder John Oster has extended his loan period with Grimsby Town until after Christmas, signing up for a second month at Blundell Park, which takes him through until the end of December.

The Grimsby Telegraph reports that Oster headed for London with the Town squad today for tomorrow's clash with Crystal Palace set to renew his right-sided partnership with skipper John McDermott, who has shrugged off a calf injury.

"I've been quite pleased with how I've done but you always think that you can do better.I've played three games now and my fitness is getting better all the time. Hopefully that will benefit my play. I'm glad to stay for another month and see how things go. That would take me past Christmas."

"I'm happy here and enjoying it - if I wasn't I'd want to go back. But I don't want to commit to anything long-term."

On Tomorrow's game he said; "We got a result away at Stoke and that's probably the worst we played when I've been here. Then we didn't take our chances against Gillingham and we should've beat Preston - but for the last 10 minutes. Darren is getting his chance and hopefully he can add to his tally. It's good to get a run going."

"The more points you pick up the better it is and at least we're not dropping them. That's the most important thing when you're down there - that you just keep ticking over."

Update

Latest news is that Oster has not signed yet and will not do so until after his current loan period expires.

Grimsby Town, Sunderland and Oster have agreed in principle but the signing cannot happen until his current spell finishes.
