Town To Open Contract Talks With Duo

By: Jake Olley
Date: 18/03/2006

ACCORDING to reports Town are set to open contract talks with left-sided players, Tom Newey and Andy Parkinson. It is understood that both players will be offered one year contracts.

This story comes after winger Andy Parkinson admitted he'd love to stay at Blundell Park despite not living up to early expectations, which surely means a new deal is highly likely. Although no deal is agreed or has even been discussed as of yet, it is understood that Mariners' Chief John Fenty would like to open talks over possible one year deals as soon as next week.

Meanwhile, Newey has yet to comment on possible talks and has recently fallen foul of the boo boys after a few disappointing performances in the past few weeks. Despite this Town gaffer Russell Slade has stuck by both players when many managers may not have done and he is understood to be keen on securing the services of the pair for another year.

There has not yet been any comment from the club and we must reiterate that the contract talks have only just begun to be discussed and are at an early stage but if there are any further developments they will be posted here.
