Question of the Week

Who will win League 2?

Fostervold Waits!

By: Jostein Jensen
Date: 08/11/2000

Norwegian left-sided defender Knut Anders Fostervold confirmed today that there is a doubt over his move to Blundell Park as the Mariners cannot afford to buy both Fostervold and David Nielsen. In an exclusive interview with my Grimsby site Jailhouse Rock, Fostervold told me the latest developments.

Monday night's telephone meeting was positive for Fostervold. The Mariners and Fostervold's Norwegian club Molde managed to agree a price acceptable to both parties. But the club probably haven't got sufficient funds to buy both Fostervold and Nielsen. Therefore the club will speak first to FC Copenhagen and Nielsen to find a solution before Friday. If Town do not manage to secure the services of the Danish striker permanently then they will probably use the money reserved for Nielsen on Fostervold. Knut Anders Fostervold confirmed to me the situation today: "Well, I wish I knew more than I do. What I know is that Lennie wants me over. Grimsby want me on a three month loan, but I don't think Molde FK will accept that. The question is over whether Grimsby can manage to get the money for a permanent move. "I can understand that Grimsby's precarious need is to solve the offensive problems, maybe they will do that and secure David Nielsen on a permanent move? If so, less money is available to be used on other new players... "It's all about money now! The case isn't dead - that I have been told, but that is all what I know! I enjoyed the town and the club Grimsby, and I really hope a solution will be found."
