Posh: No to a Million

POSH manager Darren Ferguson has dismissed Town's informal price for 19-year-old defender Ryan Bennett as "ridiculous". The Championship side's director of football Barry Fry had asked Grimsby about his availability, but was told that as Bennett was under contract for two years, it would take a six figure sum to dislodge him.
"We tracked Grimsby defender Ryan Bennett for months," Ferguson told the Peterborough Evening Telegraph. "But he signed a new contract which entitled them to ask for a fee and they wanted £1million, which was quite ridiculous.
"That has happened to us a couple of times in the past when we were quoted big fees, only for the players to move for much less to different clubs.
"Hopefully, now we are one of the smaller clubs in the Championship, we will be quoted more realistic transfer fees for players we are trying to sign."
Grim Rob Says: Bennett is worth at least the cost to the business of relegation, as a player of his calibre might make the difference between staying up and dropping out of the Football League. A million pounds therefore is not unreasonable!
