Nothing can be said about this game it’s Grimsby Vs Barnet and we need to win.
Their History
In 1882 Barnet were formed initially as Woodville FC. 3 years later Woodsville were to be known as New Barnet before been finally called Barnet in 1888. Years of playing in random London leagues were the diet of Barnet till 1965 when The Bees turned semi-pro - a season which saw them become champions of Southern League Division 1. It wasn't till 1991 that Barnet made their first appearance in the Football League where they spent a decade been promoted to then Division Two on occasion under the instruction of then manager Barry Fry. After spending four years back in the Conference Barnet returned in 2005, where they have gone from survivalists to mid-table nobodies.
Last Season
Barnet managed to steer clear of relegation last season and was cited as a major achievement. Barnet had accumulated just 16 points when he took over the day after Boxing Day from long serving Paul Fairclough and Hendon immediately set about changing the fortune of the club with an impressive 2-0 win at Bournemouth just 2 days in to his job. From their Barnet slowly but surely clawed themselves away from the mess we had found ourselves in. 32 points from 24 games assured Barnet of another year in the Football League and with the likes of John O’Flynn bagging 18 goals there were a few bright sparks in an overall depressing season for the Bee’s
This season
Where did it all go wrong for the Bees? When they beat us on the 3rd October and 11 games in they were 4th in the league just 4 points off the then league leaders Bournemouth and had a victory against Millwall to boot. From then on in though Barnet decided to try and emulate our season success going 20 games with only victories against Darlington in the league and FA Cup. This run of results ended at Aldershot at the start of February but as we know it hasn't helped much since then Barnet have recorded just another 3 victories and with straight defeats through April with only a win against Chesterfield to break up that row of L’s.
Key Player - Albert Adomah
Reports from those who travelled to Accrington recommend Adomah as Barnet’s main threat. Their number 7 is a local lad residing just a few miles away in Lambeth. The 22-year-old winger joined from non-league Harrow Borough, where he played alongside Steve Claridge, in 2008. On his debut against Hereford he got on the score sheet and his first season at Underhill led to a lot of interest especially from Plymouth meaning he handed in a transfer request but the move never came off. Since then both Norwich and Blackpool have shown interest in the winger and it looks like he will be moving on come the end of the season as he turned down a new contract at the club. John Motson sponsors him so he must be good.
Prediction
I don't think we would get the 5-0 we love it’s going to be tense but we're going to take it to the wire at Burton!
