Fenty Wins Vote of Confidence

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 01/03/2011

JOHN Fenty has been given the unanimous vote of confidence by his fellow directors in a late night meeting at Blundell Park last night. The Town boss had offered to stand aside if it was felt that someone else would be better placed to take up the reigns.

Had he lost the vote Fenty would have remained a director, but the public face of Grimsby Town FC would have reverted to one of his colleagues.

Fenty has been criticised by some fans frustrated by Town's demise over recent years and his appointment of managers in particular.

Coincidentally the applicants for the vacant manager's job at Blundell Park was the other item on the agenda last night, but the club are remaining tight-lipped about the applicants other than they are looking to recruit one unidentified individual in particular.

  • Striker Charles Ademeno is to return for the reserves this afternoon in a second string match at Blundell Park against rivals Scunthorpe United. Ademeno recently had a knee operation to try and alleviate the recurrent injury problems which have bedeviled him since his arrival from Crawley Town in the summer.

Grim Rob Says: It is right that John Fenty should remain as Chairman. Fenty has "invested" two million pounds in the club and although things have not gone well during his time at the helm, his commitment to the club has never been in doubt, and I believe that every decision he has made has been in the best faith. Unless someone else comes forward with a serious financial commitment to Grimsby Town Fenty will remain in charge.
