ALFRETON striker Liam Hearn has joined the Mariners on a three-year deal for "an undisclosed fee". The 25-year-old former England C international was voted Blue Square Bet North player of the season and scored 45 goals in 76 games for the midlands outfit, who were promoted to the non-league top flight last season.

The 25-year-old has spent his career in non-league, playing for Santos, Hucknall Town, Eastwood and Chasetown.

Hearn told the Grimsby Telegraph: "I'm very excited about the move here. I remember when I was younger and playing in the Central Midlands League, we played against Grimsby Borough. On the way to their ground, we passed Blundell Park and I remember seeing how big it was. I never dreamed I would play here. Now I've got the opportunity and can't wait to get going. It's a massive opportunity for me."
