Squad Number:26

Date of birth:14/01/1991
Place of birth:Northern Ireland
Position:Midfielder
Nationality:Northern Irish
Transfer Fee:Free
Signed:28/06/2013
Under Contract:End of 2014-2015
Previous Clubs:York
Newcastle
Fishy Verdict:The 22-year-old Northern Ireland U-21 international is an attacking midfielder who has played extensively for York both in the Conference and League Two. Prior to joining York the left footed player was on the books at Newcastle but never made an appearance for the Magpies.

McLaughlin has played mainly in a midfield, but is left-footed so can also operate in a wide position. The managers have hinted they may favour a 4-3-3 formation this season, but with just an 18-man squad they need players who are comfortable in more than one role.
